Andrea Pinones

B.S. - Oceanography, Catholic University of Valparaiso, Chile

Andrea is working on her M.S. in Physical Oceanography at the Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography (CCPO) at Old Dominion University under the direction of Dr. Arnoldo Valle-Levinson.
As an undergraduate research project, she studied the low frequency intraseasonal fluctuations (30-90 days) in the ocean and their effect over atmospheric conditions off northern Chile (18°S - 30°S). Currently she is interested in how physical processes in coastal ocean (as buoyant river discharges, tidal bores, etc) are related to biological processes.
