Ocean Turbulence

Turbulence has important influences on the ocean, many of which are not well understood. CCPO is analyzing unique observations of high frequency, small scale flow in the shallow continental shelf to understand turbulence and its interaction with surface waves and surface gas exchange. Large Eddy Simulations (LES) are used to understand the character of these turbulent motions.
