Sun Microsystems

We support over 50 Sun SPARCworkstations. We support two general use color workstations:

hensen - a SPARCstation 2 in room 113
monin - a SPARCstation 2 in room 121

Control Data Control & Silicon Graphics

We have a high performance color CDC 910a (equivalent to a Silicon Graphics 4D/310 VGX Computer) and a high performance CDC 4330 (has the performance of a 910a but without the graphics). The CDC 910a uses IRIX 5.2 and is called typhoon. The CDC 4330 uses EP/IX and is called lanina. We also have a Silicon Graphics Indigo 2 XL (150 Mhz), newton, and a Silicon Graphics Indigo 2 Extreme (200Mhz) with video support, garcia. newton has over 15 Gigabytes of storage.

IBM Corporation

We have two high performance RS/6000s (a 580 and 590) running AIX. The 580 is called maelstrom and the 590 is called charybdis. Both are restricted access and have 256 megabytes of memory.

Solbourne

We have a two processor Solbourne Series 5/600 compute server. It has 64 megabytes of memory and is binary compatible with our SPARCstations. Its name is willywilly.

Apple Computer

We have a color Macintosh Quadra 700 with CD-ROM drive and a color scanner. The Macintosh is located in room 123. The Macintosh is on the network.

Other

We support two IBM pc clones one located in room 123 (has a HP b/w scanner and CDROM) and the other in room 121 (has a 9600 baud modem). We also have several notebook sized portable PCs for remote data collection.

Printers

Hewlett Packard

We support one public Hewlett Packard Laserjet 4 Postscript printer attached to the Machintosh in room 123 and a color HP DraftPro Plus (7475a) Pen-based Plotter named plotter. The plotter is located in the Machine Room (rm 114) and is available during business hours only.

NOTE: The HP plotter uses HPGL, NOT Postscript.

Apple Computer

We support four public Apple Postscript LaserWriters. They are located in:

garth in room 100
wayne in room 102 (this printer generally has CCPO letterhead loaded)
discovery in room 121
nautilus in the hallway on the 2nd floor by the elevator.

Tektronix

We support a Tektronix Phaser II Pxi (named altair) which is located in the hallway on the 2nd floor by the elevator.

Printronix

We support a Printronix P3040 high speed dot matrix line printer. It is named aurora.
