Dr.
Larry P. Atkinson is the Slover Professor of Oceanography at Old Dominion
University, Norfolk, VA. He received his Ph. D. from Dalhousie University. He
is a member of the Oceanography Society, the American Meteorological Society,
the Marine Technology Society and the American Association for the Advancement
of Science (AAAS). He is a Fellow of the AAAS. He was Editor and Senior Editor
of Journal of Geophysical Research - Oceans. He is the author or co-author of
over 90 reviewed publications. From 2001 to 2004 he was with the Ocean.US
office creating the integrated ocean observing system.
He
is chair of the NSF Ocean Observing Science Committee. He publishes on sea
level rise, increased flooding risk and high frequency radar and coastal ocean
currents.
