In our continuing exchange of questions and answers here is one from a social scientist in our group.
We look to the group for advice. I consider the general structure of the meeting more or less set but the introductory talks on Monday are still not well determined nor are all the issues set.
Keep those comments coming.
Comment/Query::
What is the role of social scientists (as distinct from health scientists) in this effort? I strongly recommend splitting these two disciplinary groups into two in day one of the conference, as the issues and research strategies will be completely different.
My response:
Can you recommend a logical change to the agenda with topics? Don't impact the schedule too much.
Comment/Query::
I don't have a problem with the proposed schedule, but I would like to see
(1) A clear disciplinary separation between human health and social science (including economics) in day one.
(2) The interdisciplinary working groups tied to issues that Chilean researchers tell us are important to the people of the region.
My response:
We must have an integrated approach and that means being inclusive. I look for advice from you folks on how to do this. Obviously I have a blind spot for this that will need help.
Comment/Query:
I wonder if our Chilean collaborators could prepare a list of issues that they see as important -- in each broad disciplinary area -- that they would like to see addressed in the meeting.
My Response:
We'll ask them to do that.
My Response with regard to a project in the Arctic similar to ACCIS.
What about having a poster up of the Sus. Arctic Communities project so people can learn about it.
This will be on the web page.
