Mean Hydrography
These graphs show the mean temperature and salinity across the bay
mouth from 145 different hydrographic surveys, from April 1992 through
October 2004. The blue lines are the individual monthly means from each
of the years. The red line is data from the current year, 2004, and
the dashed green line is the average over all of the years, including
2004 data.
The salinity means are much less regular than the temperature means
because there is much more annual variability in the amount of
freshwater that enters the bay than there is in the local
meteorological forcing that determines bay temperatures.
