Welcome to the Ocean Observing Systems seminar course web site.

New technology now allows us to observe the ocean more frequently and
synoptically. Coincidently, our need to observe the ocean to deal with
everything from climate change to beach closures requires better ocean
observing. The research questions that arise from our need to better understand
the ocean and predict what may happen in the future can only be answered
by better ocean observing.

This seminar class will examine the latest research questions, what ocean
observing systems are needed to address them, and the policy and political
steps that are being taken to create the requisite observing systems.

The schedule is tentative depending on the number of students who sign
up and our schedules.
