Dr. Elodie Salmon
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Ph.D., Process Engineering/Geochemistry, 2008, University of Lorraine, France
M.S., Petroleum Geology, 2004, Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris
VI), France
M.S., Chemistry, 2003, University of Aix-Marseille II, France
B.S., Chemistry, 2002, University of Aix-Marseille II, France
Elodie is a postdoctoral research associate at the Coastal Physical
Oceanography (CCPO) at Old Dominion University under the direction of Dr. Eileen Hofmann.
For her Ph.D. work, Dr. Salmon studied the thermal decomposition of organic
geopolymers by experimental observations and molecular dynamic simulations
using a reactive force field, ReaxFF. Before joining CCPO, her first post
doc work focused on studying conversion processes of microalgae biomass to
biofuels and co-products and examining the molecular structural
relationships between immature kerogen, intermediate products and
hydrocarbons generated during artificial maturation of sedimentary matter.
Her research interests are in the areas of studying processes involved in
marine ecosystems and understanding chemical transformation of natural
organic matter.
