Small Scale Physical-Biological Modeling

Biological and physical processes in the ocean are linked in a variety of ways. Many animals have free drifting life stages that are strongly influenced by ocean circulation. At CCPO, larval transport models are applied to krill larvae in the Southern Ocean and bivalve larvae in Delaware Bay and over the Middle Atlantic Bight. These transport processes have a longer time influence on genetic composition of these populations, which are also being studied through model simulations.
